 The
MAGUIRE WEIGH SCALE DISPENSE SYSTEM is designed to meet the needs of the
rotational molding industry where obtaining pre-weighed batches of
material is an important part of the process. These systems allow you to
completely automate material weighing and loading. The Dispense System
delivers pre-selected weights ranging from 00.1 to 99.9 pounds or kilos,
or optionally, from 1 to 999 pounds or kilos directly into the process.
Accuracy is the primary goal of the Dispense
System. To accomplish this, without sacrificing speed, TWO dispenses are
made, the first targeting 90% of the total charge, the second programmed to
make up the difference.
The low-cost Dispense System makes accurate
and cost-saving material handling a practical and economical option for
Rotational Molders. Easy access to all material contact surfaces of the
machine permits rapid material change without the use of any tools.
When filling rotational molds, target weights
frequently vary from one mold to the next. Using the recipe function of the
controller, a series of different weights may be retrieved according to the
order of entry and dispensed consecutively. This series will automatically
repeat over and over.

Equipment Configuration
MAGUIRE model WSD Dispense Systems are very
similar to the field-proven Maguire Weigh Scale Blenders. All mechanical
components are the same except that the mix chamber is removed and replaced
with a funnel. Weigh Scale Blenders and Weigh Scale Dispense Systems share
the same controller and the same software. A few simple entries using the
keypad change the function of the controller from one unit to the other.
Any one of four weight ranges may be selected:
0.1 to 99.9 pounds, 1 to 999 pounds, 0.1 to 99.9 kilos, or 1 to 999 kilos
How
it Works
Manual or Automatic
The system may be cycled
manually by pressing a start button, or automatically controlled from a
remote relay closure provided by a PLC. For automated systems a “cycle
complete” signal is available, which will initiate the next dispense cycle.
Bar Code Readers
Some Rotational Molders
prefer to dispense material into containers and then manually fill molds. To
automate this process the Dispense System contoller will accept a signal
from a bar code reader. As a container is moved into position for filling,
the bar code is scanned which notifies the Dispense System what weight
should be dispensed for that container.
Three modes of weight selection are
available:
- For direct entry of a single dispense
weight, simply enter the weight you want from 00.1 to 99.9 pounds or
kilos, or from 1 to 999 pounds or kilos directly on the thumbwheel switch.
- For recipe selection of single weights,
use the thumbwheel switch to specify the recipe number from the recipe
file. Up to 99 single weight selections may be retrieved this way.
- For recipe selection of a series of
dispense weights, use the thumbwheel switch to select the desired series.
In this mode a series of different weights may be retrieved according to
the order of entry and dispensed consecutively. The series automatically
repeats over and over. Thumbwheel switches specify the starting point in
the recipe file. Up to 99 different groups or sequences can be stored with
no limit on the number of weights in any single sequence. An overall limit
of about 1,000 weights can be stored.
