Year 2000 Compliancy
To Whom It May Concern:
Maguire Weigh Scale Blender Controllers - Year 2000
The transition from 1999 to the year 2000 creates no problems with Maguire WSB Controller software. Dates are represented only for reference purposes, as an aid in tracking material usage. Our software and printouts never represent the year in a full 4 digit format. Accordingly, on January 1, 2000, we will print out the date as 1/1/00. Those reading these reports will know that this means January 1, 2000, not January 1, 1900.
MLAN - Year 2000
Maguire Weigh Scale Blenders, Totalizers and Dispensers express the date in a two digit format. When used in conjunction with our MLAN for Windows materials management system, the turnover to the year 2000 will be handled correctly. MLAN recognizes a year above 89 as 199X and a year below 90 as 20XX. All versions of MLAN (DOS, Windows and G2) have been designed to be 2k compliant. That is, when the year 2000 comes, everything will work as it should. The software will not think it is 1900. Even though, in some parts of the programs, you do not enter a four digit date, the software will correctly determine the date. Also, MLAN will understand that the year 2000 is a leap year and will calculate 29 days for February. MLAN uses the following formula to determine leap years: A year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4 but not by 100 unless it is divisible by 400. Basically all versions will work for 100 years before dates start repeating themselves. For example, if you enter 1/1/90 the software will treat that as January 1st, 1990: however, if you enter 12/31/89 the software will treat this as December 31st, 2089. So, in short, you will, in all probability, out grow this software before it out grows you.
